When you think of dressing for polo, it's hard not to think about Ralph Lauren and maybe the classic scene in the movie Pretty Woman with Julia Roberts where she wore a classic polkadot dress and hat. Then there's the white pants or jeans the polo players wear. White pants and uniform team jerseys are often reserved for formal matches and tournaments. There is more flexibility in player attire during practices. If fashion is your thing, have fun with polo attire and if it's not, don't worry, and just dress to be comfortable. Here are some tips:
Ladies, wear wedges or chunky heels. You'll be walking on grass both on and off the field.
Dress in layers, sport coats may be needed for cool mornings or evening after parties but removed during the hottest part of the day.
Hats for both women and men come in handy to save you from the sun and make it easier to see the action on the field without any glare.
Review the club's event information, sometimes there are contests for spectators including best hats, best bow tie or best boots!
Bring a small purse, back pack or bag to hold your personal items. Some clubs can have thousands of guests, but even if it is a smaller venue, locking your vehicle if not tailgating is best.
